Vassar College Classics Department

Students who study in the Classics department explore aspects of the ancient Mediterranean world with an emphasis on the cultures of Greece from the fifteenth to the fourth century BCE and Rome from the seventh century BCE to the fourth century CE. At the heart of this exploration are the languages of the Greeks and the Romans, their literature, their history, their art, their philosophy, their religion, their politics, and their relations with the other peoples of the Mediterranean.
